26-year-old man shot dead in east San Antonio was killed while ‘on his way home to get ready for his graduation,’ family’s GoFundMe says

Jon-Kross Perez died after being shot multiple times, according to officials. Family members said he was a single father of three.

SAN ANTONIO — A 26-year-old man shot and killed Sunday morning in an east-side area police identified as a popular gathering spot has been identified. 

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office said Jon-Kross Perez died of multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities responded to the 1600 block of Rigsby Avenue around 7 a.m. for a reported shooting in progress; a sergeant on the scene told KENS 5 a man was found shot and later pronounced dead. 

According to an SAPD incident report, Perez was found in the back of his property and appeared as though he was “walking towards his vehicle” when shots rang out. 

Authorities have not identified or detained any suspects. 

Perez was a single father of three who was attending school and was “on his way home to get ready for graduation when he was brutally gunned down,” according to an official GoFundMe set up by the family.
