3 Northside ISD grads selected in 2025 MLB Draft

Northside ISD announced on Facebook that three lucky players attending different Texas universities were selected by big league teams.

SAN ANTONIO — Three San Antonio graduates could continue their baseball careers in the big leagues after getting selected in the 2025 MLB Draft.

Northside ISD announced on Facebook that three former players – now attending different Texas universities were drafted.

According to the University of Texas Athletics Department, Jalin Flores, a Brandeis High School graduate, was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 11th round. Flores was drafted 330th overall by the team. Reportedly five Longhorns were picked for the fourth time in the last five years, including Flores. 

Clark High School alum and Texas State student Carson Laws was drafted in the 14th round by the Miami Marlins, according to the university. The right-handed pitcher was the 408th overall pick. Laws is the second Bobcat chosen in this year’s draft, joining fellow pitcher Bryson Dudley, who went in the seventh round to the Kansas City Royals. Laws is the third Texas State player selected by Miami.

Another Clark High School graduate and Texas Christian University athlete, Anthony Silva was drafted in the 14th round, 432nd overall, by the Cleveland Guardians. Silva is a two-time All-Big 12 performer in addition to being a freshman All-American, according to the TCU Athletics Department.
