Herman said it happened along the Northwest Freeway near Barker Cypress Road.
Authorities said the driver had an open felony warrant and when they searched his car, they found three pythons, a loaded gun and drugs.
The snakes were handed over to animal control.
The man was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of illegal narcotics, Herman said.
