4 arrested, 3 vehicles impounded following San Antonio ‘Street Take Over’ event

Multiple arrests were made and several vehicles were impounded following an overnight San Antonio “Street Take Over” operation that took place within the central and westside of San Antonio., according to the San Antonio Police Department.

SAPD officers with the assistance of Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to reports of a possible “Street Take Over” event Friday night, January 5, going into the early morning hours of Saturday, January 6. Officials conducted an operation, including the use of SAPD covert detectives, the SAPD Street Crimes Unit, SAPD DWI Unit, SAPD SWAT, K9, and Helicopter Unit (EAGLE), and SAPD SAFFE officers. 

During the operation, multiple cases were made and officials ultimately impounded three vehicles for reckless driving and traffic violations. They also arrested four peeople for multiple charges, including reckless driving, traffic violations, unlawfully carrying a weapon, evading arrests in vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance, according to SAPD.

While covert detectives assisted with this operation, they also witnessed what appeared to be an attempted robbery that resulted in the arrest of one man and three juveniles. The individuals were charged with evading arrest with a vehicle, unlawfully carrying a weapon, theft of a vehicle, theft of firearm, and all four were charged with evading arrest, according to SAPD. 

Detectives reported seeing a male wearing a ski mask and carrying a handgun entering the location before fleeing in a vehicle, that was later determined stolen. EAGLE tracked the vehicle and witnessed a handgun being tossed out onto the road right before the vehicle crashed. SAPD officers, K9, and DPS were able to successfully arrest the individuals after they attempted to flee on foot, according to SAPD. 

SAPD warned these takeover groups: “DON’T COME BACK!”
