4 dead in Christmas Eve ‘incident’ in North Texas, police say

Officers responded to the 200 block of Rash Lane and found four people dead at the scene, police said. Neighbors tell WFAA they are shocked and grieving.

TERRELL, Texas — Neighbors in Terrell who live on Rash Lane admit they are shocked by the events of Christmas Eve – four people found dead inside a home, and Terrell Police not immediately releasing what they believe happened.

“Well it’s sad. It’s a sad situation,” neighbor Kathern Limmer told WFAA.

Limmer and her husband, Johnny, live across the street from the home at 213 Rash Lane, where the discovery was made.

“Kind of mind-boggling really,” Johnny Limmer said. “Can’t grasp it.”

The Terrell Police Department said its detectives were investigating an “incident” where four people were found dead inside the home on Christmas Eve after officers arrived at the home for a welfare call.

The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending proper identification and complete notification of next of kin, police said.

Terrell police said they believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. Sources indicate to WFAA that the incident is likely a case of family violence.

“Four people that’s gone. That left loved ones somewhere,” Kathern Limmer said as a tear rolled down her cheek.

The Limmers admit they didn’t know the family, only waved to each other from time to time. But they grieve for the family that lived in the home with the picket fence and with a child’s hobby horse in the front yard.

“Well, because they’ve lost a loved one,” she said explaining her tears. “They were somebody’s son, daughter, whatever, and they’re gone.”

“Just to know that in our neighborhood, while we’re celebrating life, somebody’s taking someone’s life,” added neighbor Stephaine Turner who said she was having her own family Christmas gathering when police arrived in the neighborhood. “It’s a senseless crime. It’s something you don’t want to hear on Christmas Eve, especially. When everybody’s celebrating, lives are taken.”

The incident remains an active and ongoing investigation, according to TPD, telling WFAA that detectives are continuing to gather facts, review evidence, and conduct interviews.

A spokesperson for Terrell police told WFAA that victim identifications and additional details might not be released officially until sometime next week.
