COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 4-year-old girl from Chillicothe is in a coma after she developed severe complications from the flu.

On Feb. 21, Locklynn Boler tested positive for the flu. Three days later, she collapsed early in the morning when going to the bathroom.

“They had to do three rounds of CPR to bring her back, put a vent in then they had to call Life Flight to bring her to Children’s,” said Locklynn’s mother, Haley Dyke from the hospital room.

The family says she will never walk again, talk again or eat on her own again.

“You always hear things like this happening to other families. You don’t ever expect it to happen to your own family and when something like this happens, it really hits and makes you think twice about everything,” said Bethany Patrick, Locklynn’s aunt.

While the family rallies for Locklynn, they have a message for families about making every moment count.

“Take other people’s health seriously not just your own,” Patrick said.

“There wouldn’t be anything I wouldn’t do to have Locklynn come in my room and go ‘Can I sleep with you daddy?” said Bradley Boler, Locklynn’s father.

The family has a lot of medical bills and a GoFundMe has been set up to help them.
