40,000 pounds of ribeye steaks destroyed in tractor-trailer fire on Missouri highway

DOOLITTLE, Mo. — A tractor-trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of ribeye steaks caught fire Monday morning on Interstate 44.

According to the Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District, firefighters responded Monday morning to a tractor-trailer fire near mile marker 174 on eastbound I-44.

The tractor-trailer was carrying the ribeye steaks, and according to the fire department, the steaks were “all a total loss.”

The eastbound lanes of I-44 were closed temporarily while the crews responded to the fire. The lanes have since reopened.

There is no word on what caused the fire.

Here’s the initial video of 6610 arriving on scene of the tractor trailer this morning at the 174 eastbound. The trailer was packed with 40,000 pounds of ribeye steaks. Unfortunately they are all a total loss. Also, this was Probationary FF Jenna Ulrich’s first fire and she got to fight it along side her father, FF Glenn Ulrich. Jenna is on the hose line. This is our 8th vehicle fire in the last 3 weeks.
