SEGUIN, Texas — Guadalupe County officials are asking for the public’s help in solving a decades-old disappearance of a woman who vanished in Seguin 41 years ago today.

Kathleen Laura Ranft was last seen April 5, 1985, after finishing work at Lippe Tire Service in Seguin. According to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, she clocked out at about 5:50 p.m. that day.

Investigators said Ranft was in the process of starting a new chapter in her life. She had recently separated from her husband, filed for divorce and got her own apartment.

Officials say her husband helped move some of her belongings into the apartment the evening she disappeared and last saw her between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The following day, Ranft’s light blue Chevrolet Citation was found abandoned in the parking lot of the Country Cabaret in Seguin.

Ranft has not been seen or heard from since.

The case remains unsolved more than four decades later. Authorities said any information, no matter how small, could help bring answers to her family.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office at 830-379-1224 or submit an anonymous tip through Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers.
