45 Cheers to 45 Years: City of San Antonio to announce changes to annual ‘Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner’

The special press conference will take place Tuesday with special announcements for a new approach to serve more in the community.

SAN ANTONIO — Organizers are coming together Tuesday morning for a press conference to celebrate 45 years of serving others at the annual “Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner.”

The dinner serves 25,000 people with the purpose of giving back.

To prepare for this year, organizers are announcing a new approach to expand efforts to serve more in the community.

The City of San Antonio and Walmart make this event possible. As for volunteers, more than 4,000 of them are needed to pull the event off.

After the press conference, Mayor Nirenberg will launch this year’s volunteer registration at around 11 a.m.

The actual dinner will take place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center located at 900 E. Market St. on Thanksgiving Day.

This year marks 45 years of the annual downtown celebration.
