
A secondary inspection of a 2017 Ford Explorer at the Laredo point of Entry led officers to discover a total of 54 pounds of cocaine.
LAREDO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border protection seized more than $721,000 worth of cocaine at the Laredo Port of Entry.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, an officer at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge referred a 54-year-old driving a 2017 Ford Explorer for a secondary inspection. After a canine and non-intrusive inspection system examination, officers discovered a total of 54.01 pounds of alleged cocaine inside the vehicle, which equates to approximately $721,182 in street value.
“CBP is proud of the work our frontline officers do to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our communities,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “This cocaine seizure is an example of ongoing operational efforts conducted daily to protect our borders.”
The narcotics and vehicle were seized and the driver was arrested.
Homeland Security Investigations special agents are reportedly investigating the seizure.
