The Thanksgiving Eve crash involved three cars, one of which is believed to have been speeding, according to SAPD.
SAN ANTONIO — Officials say six people were hospitalized, including one with life-threatening injuries, after a major car crash in south San Antonio the day before Thanksgiving.
A police sergeant at the scene along the 15000 block of Pleasanton Road said a Toyota Camry was heading north “at a high rate of speed” around 4 p.m. Wednesday when it struck a Chevrolet truck heading in the other direction, though officials don’t know if one car crossed into the other’s lane or if a driver lost control.
Authorities say the impact caused the truck to flip over and land on a guardrail at the end of a nearby bridge.
“Luckily it got caught there and stayed there,” Sgt. Daniel Contreras said.
But the chain reaction continued when the Camry went on to collide with a Rav 4, officials say.
Five people were hospitalized with minor injuries; the driver of the Camry was hospitalized in critical condition.
Meanwhile, detectives also headed to the hospitals to learn more about what caused the three-car wreck.
