6-year-old boy dies after being hit by vehicle while playing in west-San Antonio neighborhood

Police said a 6-year-old boy was riding a toy car on a downward-sloped driveway when he went into the street and was hit by a vehicle.

SAN ANTONIO — A young boy has died from his injuries after being hit by a vehicle outside a home on San Antonio’s west side Tuesday afternoon.

The 6-year-old boy was riding a toy car on a downward-sloped driveway in the 400 block of Amires Place when he went into the road, according to a San Antonio Police Department incident report. That’s when an elderly man driving a red F-150 down the street hit him.

The driver remained on scene and rendered aid, according to SAPD. He told investigators he didn’t see the boy.

The 6-year-old was taken to University Hospital after the incident where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Officials said there are “no criminal elements” to the case, but the investigation is still ongoing.
