A release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said she was likely looking for help after her car accident when she fell down a well.
MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A woman who went missing in Monroe County on Saturday was found dead at the bottom of a well near where she was last seen, according to a release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a release posted on Facebook on Saturday, deputies were looking for Shirley Obert, 67, who was involved in a car accident around 8:30 a.m.
The sheriff’s office wasn’t sure why she left the scene. A release sent on Sunday said that Obert appeared to have been looking for help when she fell into the well that was surrounded by very thick brush near where her car was found near Abercrombie and Oxford Road in Culloden, Georgia.

On Saturday, the Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources helped the sheriff’s office look in the area near where she dissappeared. An aviation unit also helped them search.
