Arrest documents show the little boy was in the tub, at least, 15 minutes with the water running.
SAN ANTONIO — A baby sent to the hospital Tuesday has died and the parents are still in jail, officials say.
Officers responded to a call for a drowning in the 8800 block of Starcrest Drive around 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday. When police arrived, officers found the mother performing chest compressions on the baby.
The mother was arrested Tuesday and is facing charges of injury to a child, San Antonio police said.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the seven-month-old died on Thursday.
This morning the boy’s father Estevan Flores is facing reckless child injury omission charges causing bodily injury. An arrest affidavit says Flores put Micah in the tub and left him there.
Police say Flores and the baby’s mother, Michelle Sallin both knew he was in the tub. Investigators say Flores admitted he even walked past the bathroom several times while little Micah was in the tub.
Arrest documents show the little boy was in the tub, at least, 15 minutes with the water running.
Police say when the parents finally came into the bathroom the water had flooded into another room.
Investigators say the child was floating in the tub. Police say they did not get Micah the medical help he needed immediately. He left the apartment unconscious and in critical condition.
Both parents are being held in jail this morning on significant bonds and there is the possibility charges could get upgraded because of Micah’s death.
