7 women hospitalized after passing out in home due to CO2 poisoning from car running in closed garage

SAPD says a vehicle was in the closed garage idling for so long it made all but one person in the house pass out.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department said that seven women in their twenties were hospitalized after suffering from CO2 poisoning.

Around 9 a.m. on Sunday, police and fire units received a call from an “unknown third party” saying several women were unconscious inside the home located on the 700 block of Sycamore Moon.

One of the people in the home, none of which reportedly spoke English. made the call asking for help. 

Upon arrival, authorities found a car in a closed garage that had reportedly been idling so long it made all but one of the people in the home pass out.

All seven woman were hospitalized and one of them is reportedly in critical condition.

This is an ongoing investigation.
