71% of Cowboys fans admit they’re nervous about the season, survey says

DALLAS — The beauty of August for the NFL season is that everybody enters the season optimistic about their team’s chances of making the Super Bowl.

None more than the Cowboys. “It’s our year,” right?

A survey of 2,500 NFL fans nationwide shows the Cowboys fanbase’s optimism. The survey asked fans if they’re nervous about the season, if they believe their team will reach the Super Bowl and what their Super Bowl prediction is.

Some quick-hitting findings:

  • 15 out of 32 NFL fanbases have already ruled out their teams reaching the Super Bowl this season (Spoiler: Dallas isn’t one of those).
  • Dallas, Atlanta and Detroit have the most “nervous” fan bases, with 71% of their surveyed fans admitting to feeling anxious.
  • Survey’s 2,500 respondents: 55% male, 44% female, 1% non-binary, with an average age of 43.4 years.

What did the survey show about Dallas Cowboys fans? Here are the survey’s findings:

As mentioned in the bullets above, Dallas ranks at the top of the league for the most nervous fan base, tied with Atlanta and Detroit. Perhaps the uncertainty of Micah Parsons’ contract negotiations with Jerry Jones could be a factor in that? Or maybe ushering in a new era under first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer, coming off a 7-10 record last season and missing the playoffs? Or Dak Prescott returning from another season-ending injury?

Even still, Cowboys fans remain cautiously optimistic, apparently. More than one in three (38%) Cowboys fans surveyed think Dallas will reach the Super Bowl. The most common Super Bowl prediction from the surveyed Cowboys fans? Dallas versus Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs were picked as the AFC representative by 21 of the 32 NFL fanbases. Only Cowboys fans picked Dallas as the NFC.

The most commonly chosen NFC team? Don’t look now… but 19 fanbases picked the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles. The second-most picked NFC team was the Detroit Lions, with four of the 32.

The NFL season opens with Dallas versus Philly on Sept. 4. Super Bowl LX will take place on Feb. 8, 2026.
