80-year-old man drowns at Boerne City Lake, officials say

BOERNE, Texas — The body of the 80-year-old man who drowned at Boerne City Lake Sunday afternoon has been recovered, according to My Boerne News.

Officials were called to the lake just after 2:30 p.m. Witnesses say the man went under the surface and began struggling in the water. People near the lake tried to help the man, but were unsuccessful, according to officials.

The Boerne FD rescue team, Boerne PD and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department all responded to the scene.

Patrons were asked to leave the area out of precaution and to allow officials to work the scene. The lake was closed until further notice.

Boerne FD then embarked on a recovery mission, sweeping the lake trying to find the man. The man’s body was recovered just before 6:30 p.m.
