The 5,000-square-foot home at 1720 Western Avenue in Fort Worth’s Crestline Neighborhood is listed at $2.8 million.
FORT WORTH, Texas — An 82-year-old North Texas home with a famous front door is up for sale.
The 5,000-square-foot home at 1720 Western Avenue in Fort Worth’s Crestline Neighborhood is listed at $2.8 million, according to brokerage Williams Trew. And the centerpiece might be the front door, which used to belong to former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
The door, which was designed by the same artisan who restored the Statue of Liberty, was custom-made for Kennedy Onassis’ New York City apartment, according to WilliamsTrew. The door was designed to “mimic the historic windows at Ellis Island,” the brokerage said, and Greek design details paid homage to Kennedy Onassis’ second husband, Aristotle Onassis.
The owner of the Fort Worth home acquired the door through an antique dealer. They also obtained the primary suite wardrobes from Kennedy Onassis’ apartment.

“To incorporate design pieces tied to Jackie O—a woman celebrated worldwide for her timeless elegance—is something you almost never see, especially in Fort Worth,” says Joseph Berkes with the Joseph Berkes Group at Williams Trew. “It gives the home a level of historical and stylistic depth that’s truly special.”
Here’s more from the listing:
Perched on a beautifully manicured corner lot just steps from River Crest Country Club, 1720 Western Ave. is a celebration of traditional design and thoughtful renovation. Framed by a white picket fence and a gracious front porch, the home welcomes visitors with warmth and Southern charm.
Inside, rich hardwoods, crown molding, marble fireplaces, and antique-inspired lighting create a luxurious yet livable atmosphere. The formal dining room dazzles with ornate chandeliers and tailored trim, while the updated kitchen features custom cabinetry, marble countertops, and a cozy built-in banquette.
It’s not clear if the home’s owner has a connection to Kennedy Onassis, other than curating the antique pieces. But Kennedy Onassis had one very distinct connection to Fort Worth. It’s where she and her late husband, President John F. Kennedy, stayed the night before he was assassinated in Dallas.
