
A celebration of life for firefighter Scott Adams will be held April 28 at the Milton Fire Department.
MILTON, Indiana — An eastern Indiana fire department is mourning the loss of a firefighter who died in the line of duty on Friday.
The Milton-Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department said firefighter Scott Adams died April 25, 2025.
In an update, the department said Adams died at home, “suffering a medical emergency hours after responding to a call for a motor vehicle accident.”
Adams had been with the Boston Volunteer Fire Department since 2007 and the Milton Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department since 2024.
“Scott was more than a firefighter—he was a brother, a friend, and a true public servant,” the department said in a social media post. “His legacy of courage and compassion will forever remain a part of our department’s fabric.”
“We ask that the community keep Scott’s family, loved ones, and our fire department family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” the department said.
Milton is roughly 15 miles west of Richmond, Indiana, and 60 miles east of Indianapolis.
In a social media post April 26, the Milton-Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department said a celebration of life for Adams will be held Monday, April 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Milton Fire Department, located at 200 East Walnut Street.
