‘A lot of energy’ | Stefani Montiel ready to kick off 2025 tour at Tejano Fan Fair this weekend

Stefani Montiel will close out the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair in San Antonio this weekend.

SAN ANTONIO — This weekend downtown San Antonio will be blasting with Tejano music for the Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair. One of the many artists performing will be Stefani Montiel, who is closing out the show Saturday night.

Thousands from all over the country will be in San Antonio for the three-day event.  For the second year, it will be back at Hemisfair instead of Market Square.

Montiel has been a part of the Tejano music industry for 33 years.

“Who gets to do what they love every single day of their lives,” she said. “I mean, I sing. I sing for a living. I have always done this because I love it,” she said.

The award-winning and Grammy nominated artist is officially kicking off her 2025 ‘Big Energy’ tour this weekend.

“That is what our show is,” she said. “It is a lot of energy. It is dancing, it is yelling and singing. When people come see our show, it is not just about listening to Tejano music. We don’t just do Tejano. We do a little country, R&B. We just always try to mix it up.”

The three-day festival starts on Friday at noon. The Texas Talent Musicians Association Executive Director Bino G said it is a family event.

“We want you to bring your children so they can learn the music, the culture of Tejano music,” he said. “It is very important that you come out here and bring them.”

Bino G said the industry has changed and is more upbeat, adding artists like AJ Castillo and Stefani bring a different flavor.

“They keep saying this industry is dead, if you come out here, this coming weekend, no it’s not,” he said.

For a second year in a row, it is not at Market Square and is back at Hemisfair. The Texas Talent Musicians Association Vice President, Frank Salazar, said he received positive feedback last year about the venue change.

“I got a lot of good comments from the people,” Salazar said. They love the place. They love the space. “Of course, there is still some that say let’s go back to Market Square. But, we have to look everything.”

Big names like Siggno, Michael Salgado, and Stefani will jam out in front of thousands who come from all over the country.

“They are able to see not just established groups, but they get to see all the brand new and up and coming artists,” Montiel said.

The Tejano artist said fan fair is her favorite time of the year to perform.

“The energy is out of the world because those people are there for Tejano music,” she said. “They really just give you so much love.”

She will be receiving the ‘Entertainer of the Year Award’ during her Saturday performance from the Tejano Music Awards. She said her ‘Big Energy’ tour will be taking her all over the country this year. She also will be releasing a new single called “Nada”. She said it is a cumbia.

“It is very emotional song,” she said. “It just talks about the depth of love.”
