SAN ANTONIO — So the last couple of years I’ve always gotten those “Friday Night High School Football” feels and written words to honor what we love about Texas High School Football. This summer, I essentially wrote a poem giving admiration to the San Antonio and south Texas boys that lay it on the line each and every Friday night in the fall.
In one snapshot
In one moment in time
You are what you’ve always wanted to be
You’re in the only place you wanna be
Where boys become men
Where men feel the joy of victory and the tears of defeat
One with the game
Where challenge meets opportunity
When life becomes real
When dreams are no longer surreal
You define the moment
Or the moment defines you
This is your snapshot in life
It won’t happen forever
They are snapshots in time
They are significant
They are to be recognized
For some of you it’ll be your last
That’s okay
That makes it more everlasting than you can ever imagine
Because there’s just nothing quite like it
It’s forever with you
It’s forever in your heart
It is your snapshot in time
It is Texas High School Football
But more than that…It is Friday night lights
