A severe accident on Loop 1604 near Marbach has closed lanes amid icy conditions, as temperatures fell below freezing.
SAN ANTONIO — A serious accident has been reported at Loop 1604 near Marbach on the far west side amid reports of ice on the road in that area.
Traffic reports from the Texas Department of Transportation show the accident happened between Marbach and Dove Canyon Road along Loop 1604. The reports say lanes of Loop 1604 are closed but it is unclear how many.
There is no word yet on what led up to the accident but traffic cameras show the road covered in white, which could be the substance used to de-ice the road.
Temperatures fell below freezing as sleet and freezing rain fell across the area Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
