Adidas just dropped the official ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup — and it’s packed with tech

The official match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup just dropped, and it’s packed with technology that’s never been used in a World Cup before.

HOUSTON — FIFA and Adidas unveiled the TRIONDA on Wednesday as the official match ball for the 2026 World Cup, and it’s way more than just a cool-looking soccer ball. For the first time ever, three countries—Canada, Mexico and the United States—are teaming up to host the tournament, and this ball is basically a tribute to all three.

The name TRIONDA translates to “three waves” in Spanish, which is a nod to the historic three-nation partnership. The design is pretty eye-catching too, with red, green and blue colors repping each host country. It’s got this unique four-panel setup with wavy geometry that connects in the middle to form a triangle—symbolizing the three countries coming together.

“The Official Match Ball for the FIFA World Cup 26 is here and it’s a beauty!” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said. “I am happy and proud to present TRIONDA. Adidas has created another iconic FIFA World Cup ball, with the design embodying the unity and passion of next year’s host nations Canada, Mexico, and the United States.”
