SAN ANTONIO — Richard Cruz Rodriguez, 58, is charged with the felony charge of murder after being accused in the fatal shooting of a man at a bus stop on the south side of San Antonio one week ago.
SAPD was called to the 2400 block of SW Military Drive around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27 for reports of a shooting in progress at a VIA bus stop.
When officers arrived at the location, they found Thomas Ray Harper, 33, with a single gunshot wound to his chest.
Witnesses that were with the victim told police they were waiting for the bus when the suspect stopped at the bus stop and an argument broke out, according to the affidavit. Harper became upset and started to argue with the suspects when one of the suspects pulled out a weapon and shot him, police say. The suspect then drove away.
Arrest papers say the witnesses provided police with a description of the suspect’s vehicle and were also able to provide officers with the aliases for the suspects.
Police were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle by researching license plates using the video from the scene. An investigation matched up the suspects involved, according to the affidavit.
They obtained the address and issued a warrant for Rodriguez’ arrest.
Rodriguez was taken into custody Wednesday morning. His bond has not yet been set.
