Affidavit: Man identified as suspect in deadly 2024 shooting at San Antonio apartment complex

Police say witness statements, surveillance video and tips helped identify a suspect in a deadly 2024 shooting at a San Antonio apartment complex.

SAN ANTONIO — New court records reveal how witnesses and surveillance video helped investigators identify a suspect in a deadly shooting at a San Antonio apartment complex last year.

According to an arrest affidavit, Felix Brandon Garcia, 24, is accused of killing Isaiah Guevara, 20, during a shooting on Oct. 26, 2024.

Officers with the San Antonio Police Department were called around 4 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 5300 block of Fredericksburg Road after a neighbor reported hearing gunshots. The caller also told police they noticed bullet holes in the wall of their apartment, which they shared with the victim’s unit.

When officers arrived, they found the victim’s apartment door slightly open with no signs of forced entry. Inside, Guevara was found dead with apparent gunshot wounds. Investigators also found several spent shell casings at the scene.

According to the affidavit, a witness who lived nearby said they heard loud popping noises before looking through their door’s peephole. The witness reported seeing a young adult male wearing a red hoodie leave the victim’s apartment, followed by another male wearing a black shirt and cap.

The witness said they also heard a woman yelling toward the two men as they ran down the stairs toward the parking lot.

Surveillance video from a doorbell camera captured three people running through the apartment complex parking lot around 3:39 a.m., including someone with long red hair, a person wearing a red hoodie and another person in a black shirt.

Investigators later arrested a woman connected to the case. According to the affidavit, a tip later helped identify one of the males seen leaving the apartment. That person spoke with detectives and identified Garcia as the shooter.

Police say the woman was later re-interviewed and also identified Garcia as the person who fired the shots.

Based on witness statements and video evidence, investigators believe Garcia intentionally caused Guevara’s death. Police are seeking his arrest on a murder charge.
