An arrest warrant reveals the boy’s father is a China Grove police officer.
UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas — An arrest affidavit reveals new details into the fatal stabbing of a child in Universal City on Wednesday morning. A mother faces a capital murder charge, accused in the murder of her 9-year-old son.
The scene unfolded at a home in the 8200 block of Zodiac Drive around 5 a.m. Wednesday where the boy’s father, who we’re now learning is a China Grove police officer, called for help.
Arrest records say officers arrived to find the woman, now identified as 50-year-old Wilma Jamitza Medina, with blood on her shirt. Investigators said the boy’s father was holding Medina by her leg.
Their 9-year-old son was reportedly discovered lying in the master bedroom, unresponsive with trauma to his torso and neck area.
As law enforcement was attempting to secure the house, investigators said Medina moved toward the bathroom, retrieved a knife from the counter and stabbed herself in her leg.
The affidavit states officers were able to remove that knife from Medina along with a dagger-style knife in the master bedroom while she repeated “I cannot live without him” and “Let me die.”
During the investigation, authorities learned Medina had also stabbed herself in the chest.
Investigators don’t have an exact motive yet but the arrest warrant says Medina told police she believed she was being followed and chased by people. She also claimed she felt her son was being hurt at school, telling officers “There’s no going back.”
Officials said the 9-year-old boy died after suffering multiple puncture wounds to both sides of his neck.
Medina has been charged with capital murder of a person under ten years of age. Her bond is set at $600,000.
