Investigators say 32-year-old Joshua Barron robbed employees at gunpoint and took off with $12,000 worth of items before police tracked him down.
SAN ANTONIO — A 32-year-old man was arrested last week in connection with a violent robbery at a north-side pawn shop that investigators say left more than $12,000 in jewelry stolen, according to an arrest affidavit.
Joshua Barron was taken into custody on Friday, Feb. 6 and booked on three counts of aggravated robbery following an incident just two days prior at the Cash America Pawn located on the 2500 block of Bandera Road.
Surveillance video reviewed by investigators shows Barron and another suspect approaching the store from a nearby bus stop. One suspect approached on foot while the other rode a bicycle. The affidavit says the second suspect used the bicycle to prop open the door as Barron entered, pulled a firearm and ordered a workers and patrons to remain still, telling them they were “only here to take a few things.”
Investigators said the second suspect smashed the glass of a jewelry display case, taking multiple cases of jewelry valued at more than $12,000 and placing them into a black backpack. Barron remained at the door, acting as a guard, before fleeing on foot, while the second suspect rode away on the bike. Surveillance footage later shows both suspects entering a vacant lot off Callaghan Road.
During the investigation, authorities located the discarded bike and tracked a white Camaro connected to the suspects. Investigators said the car was traced to Barron’s father, who was stopped driving the vehicle. His father was able to identify suspect 1 as his son, Joshua and suspect 2 as his nephew.
Police continue to search for the second suspect.
The case remains under investigation.
