Spence is in custody and held on a $100,000 bond as of Monday.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — According to an affidavit, police received a call from London ISD’s Assistant Superintendent Alex Salazar on April 29 regarding an inappropriate relationship between an educator and a student at its high school.
Salazar told detectives he received an anonymous tip about a teacher and student relationship that led to the investigation of Amy Spence.
Court documents show Salazar was also investigating a separate incident with a different teacher who was terminated. In the affidavit, the school does not name who the other incident was about, nor does it state if police were aware of that incident. All it mentions is that it was a male teacher.

Salazar said he contacted both parties involved and had them write statements, which were later handed to the police. The teen boy admitted to the relationship in the statement, while Spence denied it.
The anonymous email said the following:
“I wanted to bring to your attention some concerning behavior I have witnessed. I overheard Ms. Spence telling someone that she is in a romantic relationship with a male student who is a senior. I have seen “male student” driving Ms. Spence’s vehicle on campus and sitting in her truck for extended periods. I feel this behavior is inappropriate and could create an uncomfortable environment for others. “
Salazar told officers the school was in the process of different incident with a different teacher working on it. Due to that investigation, the school terminated that employee.
Once the district gathered enough evidence on Spence’s alleged relationship, it informed her of what she was being accused of. Officers said the teen boy agreed to show text messages between him and the suspect to the school. The victim gave the school permission to download and print all the messages and decided to speak to detectives about the incident.
The student told detectives they began texting on August 24, 2024, when Spence allegedly pursued him to hang out outside of school. He said she would then offer to pick him up and drop him off at school on multiple occasions. The boy told during the intersession around September or October, Spence invited him over to her house, where they had sexual intercourse.
Spence is in custody and held on a $100,000 bond as of Monday.
