SAN ANTONIO — A teen is accused of carrying out a series of drive-by shootings targeting the same west side home and San Antonio police say a trail of social media posts helped lead detectives to identify the suspect.
Court documents allege that 17-year-old Porfiro Garza shot at the same home four times over the past three months.
After the second shooting, investigators said the homeowner installed surveillance cameras that captured images of a vehicle believed to be connected to the shootings.
A break in the case came through social media, according to police.
Videos posted on Instagram showed the suspect holding the same type of firearm believed to have been used in the shootings, police said. One video allegedly showed the suspect recording himself at a nearby gas station next to a car matching the vehicle seen in the surveillance footage.
Police said two people were inside the home during the shootings and feared for their lives, but no one was struck by gunfire.
Authorities said the motive for the shootings and why the same home was repeatedly targeted remain unknown.
