
For Texas A&M, it was their first time in the College Football Playoff. Miami now moves on to face Ohio State.
The season and national title hopes are over for Texas A&M after the Aggies fell 10-3 to Miami in a defensive showdown.
The teams were scoreless at halftime, but the teams traded field goals in the second half before Miami added a late touchdown pass from Carson Beck to Malachi Toney to take a 10-3 lead.
The Aggies took the ensuing kickoff down to the four yard line before it ended with a Marcel Reed interception.
Reed was 25 of 39 for 237 yards for the Aggies. He threw two interceptions, including the game-sealing one in the end zone with less than 30 seconds remaining.
The Aggie defense was solid all day, holding Canes’ QB Beck to 103 yards on 14 of 20 passing. Beck did have the one touchdown pass and no interceptions.
The offensive hero for Miami was Mark Fletcher Jr., who ran for 172 yards on 17 carries, including big runes on the game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter.
