DALLAS — A Dallas Deputy Marshal shot and killed an “aggressive” coyote near a popular Dallas park off the Katy Trail on Tuesday after a man reported being approached by the coyote while walking his dogs, officials say.
The Deputy Marshal, who was working near Reverchon Park in the 3500 block of Maple Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood, said the man reported being approached by an “aggressive” coyote Tuesday afternoon, according to officials.
The deputy marshal spotted the coyote, set up a perimeter with other deputy marshals, and fired one round, killing the coyote as it headed toward a populated area of the Katy Trail, according to a statement. No one was reported injured by the coyote.
The coyote’s remains will be sent to a laboratory for testing, according to city officials.

The news comes after Dallas officials reported two children sustained minor injuries after they were chased by a coyote near White Rock Creek Trail in Dallas less than two weeks ago.
