The “pommel horse guy” and the Team USA curler are not the same person, despite what some might think they see.
MILAN, Metropolitan City of Milan — Is the pommel horse guy from the Summer Olympics and the Team USA curler at the Milan Cortina Games the same person? Nope.
Stephen Nedoroscik, the 27-year-old pommel horse athlete who won bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is not Aidan Oldenburg, the 24-year-old curler who is representing the United States in Italy in the curling event.
The two did virtually meet up to debunk the “they’re the same person” rumors.
“I came across your story, and I find you to be such a cool, interesting dude,” Nedoroscik said in a video posted to Instagram, paired with Oldenburg reacting to it. “You sound awesome, and I just want to wish you the absolute best of luck out there. If you guys ever need a plus one on your curling team, feel free to reach out.”
He compared their interests — Oldenburg who juggles, and Nedoroscik who does Rubik’s Cubes — and fashion senses. The “pommel horse guy” has worn a specific set of glasses throughout his entire career while the first-time Olympian Oldenburg wears a headband while competing.
“The crossover we all needed,” the caption for the video read.
Oldenburg said he did gymnastics when he was younger for “about two months” and pitched joining Nedoroscik for the next Summer Olympics.
The comments were flooded with people poking fun at the clone theory, with even the World Curling official account posting a meme of two Spider-Men pointing at each other.
“Wow! Long lost brothers?” another person commented.
Oldenburg is from Mapleton, Minnesota, and will next compete in session two of the men’s curling round robin against Team Switzerland. The event will take place at 8:05 a.m. ET. Thursday.
