
San Antonio prepares the Alamodome to host NCAA Final Four, transforming it into a basketball venue in just a few short Friday.
SAN ANTONIO — With San Antonio being in the spotlight in the upcoming Final Four games next week, the time has prepare the Alamodome for the vital games that will determine the NCAA men’s basketball champions.
The nation’s best college basketball teams will end up in here in the Alamo City. The Semifinal and Final games will be played on April 5 and 7.
Friday, the city is preparing the Alamodome for these elite teams and getting it ready to accomodate thousands of fans.
The city says it takes about four hours to “flip” the Alamodome into a basketball venue. The court for the games was built back in the fall in Michigan.
The court is coming 1,602 miles to San Antonio in 381 panels. It will weigh 58,000 pounds. Once built, it will be doubled checked for accuracy by on site technicians.
The entire process starts at 9:30 a.m. Friday. A KENS 5 crew plans to be there.
