Live Oak police arrested former law enforcement cadet Jonathan Lizardo on charges of child sex abuse with bonds set at $300,000.
LIVE OAK, Texas — Officials with the San Antonio College Law Enforcement Academy confirm that until February when he left the program on his own accord, 29-year-old Jonathan Carlos Lizardo was a cadet in the program.
Now, Lizardo remains in the Bexar County Jail with bonds totaling $300,000. He is accused of two counts of continuous sex abuse of a child, with both victims being under the age of 14.
Jail officials confirm because Lizardo has a law enforcement background, he will remain in protective custody while he is jailed.
The arrest was made Wednesday night by Live Oak Police.
Affidavits say the case came to light in late March when two young girls made an outcry to a relative about alleged abuse that had been going on for some time, both at Lizardo’s home in the Auburn Hills neighborhood in Live Oak and at other locations around the San Antonio area.
The person who complained said messages of a sexual nature from Lizardo were found on the phone of one of the victims the previous day.
The messages were according to the person who contacted police. When questioned, the girl allegedly confirmed the abuse.
To gather more evidence, the court document details how the phones of two alleged victims were forensically examined.
The affidavit goes on to claim that sexually explicit texts involving two victims were found going back in time to May 2024.
The document also details the victims gave similar accounts of the abuse when they were interviewed by a forensic counselor at Child Safe as the investigation progressed.
Live Oak Police said because of the nature of the case, they would not comment in an interview, however in an email, they wrote: “This investigation remains active and additional charges may be forthcoming as new information develops.”
