American Airlines shifts focus from Austin, cuts 21 routes from airport

The Bulkhead Seat reports that the cuts are pulling back recent growth that American Airlines made in the capital city. Axios Austin reports that flights to Cincinnati; Kansas City, Missouri; Memphis, Tennessee; Tampa, Florida; and Washington Dulles will be cut starting January 2024. The Bulkhead Seat also reports that American Airlines will also cut Mexico flights to Cozumel and Puerto Vallarta. 

A spokesperson for the airline told The Points Guy in a statement that, “Austin remains an important market for American as we continuously evaluate our network. Together with our partners, American will continue to offer customers service to 15 of the top 20 markets from AUS.”
