Another deer found shot, decapitated in New Braunfels, officials asking for public’s help

A reward up to $1,000 is being offered to the public.

COMAL COUNTY, Texas — Authorities are currently looking for the suspects who illegally shot a deer, just a day after a previous incident where another buck was shot in New Braunfels.

Texas Game Wardens say a white-tailed buck was shot on the night of June 26 or in the early morning hours of June 27. The buck was reportedly shot from the roadway in a residential neighborhood near 1170 Kuehler Avenue in New Braunfels.

Officials say the buck was shot with an arrow or crossbow bolt tipped with a broadhead. The buck was found decapitated and Game Wardens believe it was taken as a trophy while the rest of the deer was abandoned.

Game Wardens say the people who shot this buck, endangered the surrounding families by discharging their weapons in a residential neighborhood.

Texas Parks & Wildlife’s “Operation Game Thief” posted on Facebook about the latest incident and a possible $1,000 reward being offered for information and tips leading to the suspects.

Officials have not said if the first illegal deer shooting is connected to this one.

If you have any information regarding these incidents, you are urged to call Operation Game Thief at 1-800-792-GAME(4263).
