Argument between man and woman ends in shots fired across the street from high school, police say

A 28-year-old Hispanic male is accused of assaulting a 27-year-old female at an apartment complex and firing shots in the air.

SAN ANTONIO — An argument between a man and a woman ended with shots being fired across the street from a south-side high school Friday morning.

Police responded to a call around 10 a.m. in the 500 block of West Hutchins on the south side of San Antonio. Some CPS workers were in the area working on lines when they heard shots being fired and witnesses say a man drag a woman into an apartment.

While police were in route, a witness ran over to McCollum High School, across the street, and reported the shots being fired. School police later found a man driving erratically who was connected to the shots being fired.

Police discovered that the man and woman were arguing over alleged infidelity, when the man reportedly dragged the woman inside an apartment and began assaulting her. Also inside the apartment, police say the man fired several more shots that hit the wall. The shots did not go through the wall due to the apartment’s brick exterior.

No one was hit by gunfire, police said. The 28-year-old man will face a charge of assault with a deadly weapon/family violence. He may also face a charge for discharging a weapon in a municipality for firing so many shots in the air.

Harlandale ISD officials responded that the school was never placed on lockdown and no students were harmed or involved in the incident.

This is a developing situation and further details will be added as they are received. Check back to this article for updates.
