
Arkansas will play in the regional final tomorrow night. The Razorbacks will play the NDSU/Creighton winner.
FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — Arkansas baseball took down Creighton, 12-1, Saturday night to advance to the regional final Sunday evening.
Creighton will face off against North Dakota State in the elimination game Sunday at 2 p.m. The winner of that game will face Arkansas later that day.
Zach Root got the start for Arkansas and went six innings with three hits and punched out seven.
1st inning – 0-0
Arkansas goes down quietly in the top of the frame. Wehiwa Aloy gets thrown out at third after stealing second.
Creighton gets its first hit of the day but Zach Root gets a scoreless frame and his first strikeout of the day.
2nd inning – 2-0 Arkansas
Cam Kozeal picks up where he left off from yesterday and puts Arkansas on top with a solo shot to the Hog Pen in left field. On two outs with the bases loaded, Will Magers hits Charles Davalan to bring in another run.
Root leaves a runner on first with another scoreless frame.
3rd inning – 4-0 Arkansas
Kozeal comes up clutch once again with two on and no outs with an RBI double to plate another run. Reese Robinett brings in another with a single on two outs.
Root gets his second punchout of the day with another scoreless frame.
4th inning – 4-0 Arkansas
Shea Wendt came on for Magers in relief. Magers gave up four runs on seven hits, struck out four and walked one. Arkansas would leave the bases loaded.
Root works around a walk and a single to get another scoreless frame. All three outs were strikeouts to bring his total to five.
5th inning – 7-0 Arkansas
With two runners on with two outs, Aloy gives Arkansas some insurance with a three-run home run to left. This is Aloy’s first home run of the NCAA tournament.
Another scoreless frame for Root and he gets his sixth strikeout of the game.
6th inning – 8-0 Arkansas
Ryder Helfrick gets the inning started with a solo shot to left. The Razorbacks would leave two on base.
Root works around a two out double for another scoreless frame.
7th inning – 12-1 Arkansas
Anthony Unca came on in relief for Wendt. On no outs with a runner on second, Aloy gets his second home run of the day sending one out to the Hog Pen for some more insurance.
Helfrick with a runner on gets his second home run of the night to give Arkansas a 12-0 lead.
Ben Bybee would come in relief for Root in the bottom of the inning. Tate Gillen will plate Creighton’s first run with an infield single with the bases loaded.
8th inning – 12-1 Arkansas
Arkansas goes down silently in the top of the inning.
Steele Eeves would get a 1-2-3 inning in relief of Bybee to keep Arkansas in front.
9th inning – 12-1 Arkansas
Arkansas would leave a runner on first.
Colin Fisher came in to close out the game.
