SAN ANTONIO — A New Braunfels army recruiter is accused of having intimate relationships with teenage girls, he met at high school recruiting events, according to the city.
Marcel Ian Moreno, 25, was taken into custody Friday from Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio after an arrest warrant was issued by the New Braunfels Police Department.
According to the city, Moreno was charged with Sexual Performance of a Child – a 2nd degree felony.
The New Braunfels PD and the Department of Army Criminal Investigation Division looked into allegations that Moreno used his role as a recruiter for the U.S. Army to have an intimate relationship with a 17-year-old girl that he met at New Braunfels High School during a recruiting event, officials say.
The nearly month-long investigation led to the discovery of two additional victims who also met Moreno while on high school campuses when he was working as a recruiter, according to the city.
New Braunfels PD believes there may be additional victims. Anyone who believes they are a victim, or may know a potential victim, is encouraged to call New Braunfels police at 830-221-4100.
Moreno was taken to the Bexar County jail where his bond was set at $50,000. He has since posted bond and been released.
According to the city, more charges could be pending.
