AZLE, Texas — An arrest has been made against the suspect behind a fatal accident that temporarily closed part of FM 730 in Azle back in September.
The Azle Police Department announced Saturday in a press release that Springtown resident Tammy Jo Lawrence has been charged on four felony counts – two each of Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault – for her role in a Sept. 23, 2025, collision in the 13000 block of FM 730.
According to officials, two victims were fatally injured that day, and two others were seriously injured and taken from the scene, which kept 730 closed between Creekwood Ranch Road and Main Street while first responders worked.
Lawrence currently sits in the Parker County Jail behind her charges. The investigation against her was made in cooperation by Azle PD and Tarrant County’s accident team.
Azle Police Chief Bennett Hall told WFAA in September that, around 12:19 p.m., a vehicle traveling northbound on FM 730 left its lane and crashed head-on with a vehicle traveling in the southbound lane. Hall said that the driver of the southbound vehicle and a passenger in the northbound vehicle were killed in the crash.
Those victims were identified as 67-year-old Robert Edwin Anness and 73-year-old Johna Estes Wicker.
