Rodolfo Hernandez III, 33, is accused of killing Jagger Munoz, 19, after a gun deal turned into an attempted robbery last November, documents show.
SAN ANTONIO — After almost a year, an arrest has been made in a deadly shooting from November 2023, documents show.
On November 21, 2023, an affidavit says a shooting took place at The Retreat at the Medical Center located at 6101 Whitby Road. A witness called authorities saying a man was on the ground.
The witness told police that they saw the victim sitting in a silver sedan. As the victim exited the vehicle, the witness heard a yell, followed by a single gunshot. The witness said the vehicle fled southbound towards Whitby Road.
Police at the time determined the victim, later identified as 19-year-old Jagger Munoz, was shot once in the back and died due to his injury.
A few hours later, another witness told police they knew who the suspect was. They said it was 33-year-old Rodolfo Hernandez III.
After the shooting, Hernandez told the witness he was trying to sell Munoz a handgun, only for Munoz to point his own gun at Hernandez, attempting to rob him. Hernandez told the witness he fired a shot at Munoz while still inside the vehicle. The victim then fled the scene. The witness was able to identify Hernandez in a photo lineup.
The witness told police the next day Hernandez hid the gun he used in their apartment. Police was able to find the gun after a search. They weren’t able to contact Hernandez after multiple attempts.
According to jail records, Hernandez was arrested Thursday, almost a year after the incident.
