At least 1 person critically injured in high-speed crash near downtown San Antonio, police say

SAPD said a vehicle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed while taking an exit when the driver lost control and slammed into a utility pole.

SAN ANTONIO — A person is fighting for their life after a single-vehicle crash early Saturday near downtown, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Police said the crash happened around 1 a.m. near I-35 North and Powell Street. A vehicle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed while taking an exit when the driver lost control and slammed into a utility pole, according to SAPD.

At least one of the occupants was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, police said.

No other injuries were reported, according to the San Antonio Police Department. This is an ongoing investigation, police said.
