Atascosa County investigators search for clues after mother finds two teenage sons dead inside shed

Police say the crime took place at a home near the intersection of 6th Street and Pleasanton Drive.

PLEASANTON, Texas — Pleasanton Police said the frantic call for help came in after 5 a.m. on Thursday morning at the corner of Sixth Street and Pleasanton Avenue.

A mother called to say she had found two of her children, both boys, bleeding and unresponsive in a shed behind her home.

“Upon arrival, our officers determined the two males were deceased and our Criminal Investigation Division were called to begin their investigation,” said Pleasanton Police Chief Ernest Guerra.

Guerra said they made progress early on.

“With the help of Texas Rangers we were able to develop some suspects of interest and they are currently being interviewed,” Guerra said.

Crime scene tape protects a large area around the house.

“Currently our detectives are spread out throughout the city processing three total possible locations for evidence,” said Guerra. “We found evidence all over.”

While investigators looked for clues, stunned family members sat on a curb nearby and quietly consoled one another as they waited for answers.

Too stunned to speak on camera, off camera they said they haven’t even started to think about what they will do to manage two unexpected funerals at once.

Meanwhile, Guerra said he didn’t believe the killings were a threat to the community at large.

He said it will be up to the District Attorney to decide whether the case will be pursued as a capital murder.

Police did promise to release more details as soon as they are able but the names of the victims have yet to be released.
