Atascosa County deputies arrested two wanted suspects after a traffic stop in Wilson County turned into a pursuit during an Operation Lone Star initiative.
ATASCOSA COUNTY, Texas — Two wanted individuals were taken into custody last week after Atascosa County deputies conducted a traffic stop as part of an Operation Lone Star enforcement initiative in Wilson County.
Deputies said they stopped a vehicle occupied by Niko Cruz, who was wanted out of Travis County for assault causing bodily injury, and passenger Tina Leggett, who was also wanted on an outstanding felony theft warrant.
Authorities said Cruz attempted to flee during the stop. At one point, deputies believed the vehicle had been stopped, but Cruz allegedly rammed a patrol unit and continued to evade law enforcement.
Deputies were eventually able to stop the vehicle and take Cruz into custody.
Cruz now faces charges related to his warrant as well as two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant, evading arrest in a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest, officials said.
Leggett was also arrested on her felony theft warrant.
Both were booked into the Wilson County Jail.
