AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) has returned to normal operations after a suspicious item was discovered in a terminal Thursday afternoon.

According to officials with ABIA, the suspicious item was found in the Barbara Jordan Terminal, and passengers were removed from the affected area of the terminal as a precaution.

The terminal was never placed under an evacuation, but APD had established a perimeter to investigate the scene and ensure public safety.

No flights at ABIA were impacted, but the incident did cause traffic congestion and delays in the terminal area.

ABIA is anticipating several high-volume travel days coming up, with the second weekend of the 2025 ACL Music Festival set to kick off on Friday.
