Back-to-back fires at Universal City apartment complex leaves families displaced

Several families are displaced after two fires in quick succession struck a Universal City apartment complex, with residents facing an evacuation and power outage.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas — Several families have been displaced after back-to-back fires break out at a Universal City apartment complex.

Around 5 p.m. Sunday, officials responded to the 350 block of East Aviation Boulevard after receiving reports of a fire.

Preliminary information from witnesses suggests the fire first broke out in Building 1 before a second fire started in the same building, but at the opposite side.

Residents from Building 1 evacuated and won’t be able to return for at least 24 hours.

Buildings 2 and 3 were just let back in to salvage what they could as multiple buildings are without power.

Some residents are staying with neighbors, others are going to First Baptist Church, according to social media posts.

This is an ongoing investigation.
