KERRVILLE, Texas — It’s back to school for one district that had a summer they will never forget.
Kerrville ISD was involved during and after the July Fourth flood, responding to calls for help evacuating and opening the campuses for relief.
And through it all, they still had to prepare for all that comes with welcoming students back to class for the new year.
The district has some suggestions for parents and students ahead of the new school year.
They ask for patience and grace due heavier traffic, longer drop-off and pick up lines at the area schools.
The district says that all students in KISD are receiving backpacks and school supplies for this school year, as a result of the flood..
The district is prohibiting cellphones, tablets, smart watches with communication capabilities, earbuds, gaming devices in the schools. The use of these devices is banned from the first bell to the final bell of the instructional day, the district says. The district says the devices must be out of sight during the instructional day, including passing periods and lunch, and stored in a backpack, locker or other container that is not on a student’s person.
The Kerrville ISD Superintendent had a welcome back message for the students.
