Backyard argument leads to east-side stabbing on Christmas night, SAPD says

The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

SAN ANTONIO — A backyard argument between two friends ended with one being stabbed late Christmas night, according to San Antonio police.

San Antonio police were called to the 1400 block of Lamar Street around 6:30 p.m., for a shooting in progress.  

Police said upon arrival, officers determined this was not a shooting but a stabbing. 

According to SAPD, the two men knew each other and got into a fight that escalated. During the argument, one man pulled out a knife and stabbed the other. Both men are in their 50’s and had been drinking at the time of the incident. 

Authorities said the injured man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other man was detained at the scene as investigators continue to determine who was the primary aggressor. 

Police said the call initially reported a shooting, but no weapons or evidence of a shooting were found.

According to SAPD, this remains an active investigation.
