Ballet SA dancers Michael Agudelo and Sofie Bertolini get engaged on stage during final ‘Cinderella’ performance

More than 500 people have reacted to the proposal video, with many wishing the couple a long and happy life together.

SAN ANTONIO — At the end of Ballet San Antonio’s production of “Cinderella,” the prince and Cinderella promise to live happily ever after.

But on the final night of the show, the fairytale continued offstage.

Ballet SA shared a video capturing the proposal that followed Sofie Bertolini’s final bow as the iconic princess. Michael Agudelo, still in his Prince costume, dropped to one knee and proposed on stage. Fellow dancers clapped, cheered and jumped with excitement as Bertolini said “yes,” and the crowd roared as the couple embraced.

“We’re not crying, you’re crying! She said yes! Congratulations Sofie Bertolini and Michael Agudelo! We couldn’t be happier for you,” the company wrote on social media.

Bertolini joined the company in 2014 and was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2023. She has performed a wide range of roles, including Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet,” Carmen and Giselle in their namesake productions, and Lucy in “Dracula,” as well as featured parts in “Rubies,” “Swan Lake,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “The Whistling.” Bertolini ended her run with Ballet SA in the roles of Cinderella and the Stepmother.

Agudelo joined the company two years later, in 2016, and became a Principal Dancer the same year as Bertolini. He has performed leading roles including Cavalier in “The Nutcracker,” Albrecht in “Giselle,” Basilio in “Don Quixote,” Siegfried in “Swan Lake,” and the Prince in “Cinderella.” He’s also a YouTuber with more than 100,000 subscribers on his channel, “Mikestarwalker.”

Ballet SA’s next season begins in fall 2026.
