Ballet San Antonio to end its 40th season with production of ‘Cinderella’

The production will feature 26 professional dancers and a children’s cast from the School of Ballet San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO — Get ready to see Cinderella in magical ballet shoes this February as San Antonio’s premier ballet company closes its 40th season.

Ballet San Antonio will be presenting a rendition of the classic fairytale story “Cinderella” from Feb. 20-22 in the H-E-B Performance Hall at the Tobin Center. Tickets are available now and can be purchased online, by phone at 210-223-8624, or in person at the Tobin Center Box Office, located at 100 Auditorium Circle.

The production, which Ballet SA originally premiered in 2022, is choregraphed by Conny Mathôt and set to Sergei Prokofiev’s rich, romantic score. The story will follow a young Cinderella as she breaks free from her wicked stepmother and transforms into a princess.

“With its inspiring message of hope and optimism, it was only natural to bring back ‘Cinderella’ for our 40th anniversary,” Evin Nicole Eubanks Rose, chief executive officer for Ballet San Antonio said in a press release. “In many ways, ‘Cinderella’ mirrors our message as a professional ballet company – that believing in yourself is the most powerful magic of all.”

“Cinderella” will feature 26 professional dancers and a children’s cast from the School of Ballet San Antonio.

As part of the ballet company’s “Send the Kids to the Ballet” program, over 360 children from the San Antonio area will be able to see this year’s production thanks to donations from community members, corporations and foundations.

Organizers said “Cinderella” will transport audiences to a world where kindness prevails and dreams come true.
